Higher Logic Acquires Socious: Building Better Communities Together

We’ve been busy here at Higher Logic - last September we announced our spot as a Leader in the inaugural IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Online Communities 2016 Vendor Assessment, as well as our new investment and partnership with JMI Equity.

JMI Equity invested in Higher Logic, giving us capital, guidance, the ability to do acquisitions, and access to many of the things we need to keep improving and evolving our community platform for customers. The IDC report notes that building relationships with customers will be the most important business priority over the next 12 months.

We’ve noted the possibility of exploring some acquisitions - looking into companies and vendors that offer great products or services that would expand and enhance our product offering, and therefore assist our customers and prospects in achieving their business goals. And we’ve done just that!

Now we have more exciting news for 2017: Higher Logic has acquired Socious, a online community software company.

For those who aren’t familiar with Socious, they’re a smaller community software company with clients in the association and B2B enterprise markets. Read more about the acquisition in our press release.

Why did we acquire Socious?

We did this acquisition for two big reasons: the products and the people.

But here are details why Socious is a great fit for Higher Logic:

  • Higher Logic already is experiencing incredible growth and this will help us build and innovate better and faster. The result will be an improved ability for our combined customers to engage, retain, and grow their members and customers.
  • This allows us to instantly expand our team, our community offerings, and to add a professional services practice beyond just the Community Management services we have today.
  • The expanded platform capabilities will help us compete in the growing customer community market.

The goal is to be more successful together than apart, by combining two companies into one, stronger community provider with compelling market offerings. This will ultimately result in more rapid innovation, an expanded set of product offerings available to our clients, and even better customer service.

Stronger communities all together

Together, our two companies provide features, services, and a product roadmap that should make our existing customers very excited. Our combined organizations contribute to the evolution in member engagement software and will lead the industry moving forward.

In other words, the best minds in member engagement are now under one roof to deliver products and features that will lead the industry.
