Ever wonder who the people behind the curtain are here at Higher Logic? We're introducing you to our community managers. They’ll talk about why they love community management, helpful resources to use and weigh in on the dog versus cat debate (as you can see, this is serious stuff…).
In this fifth installment, we’re introducing our newest community manager, Melanie DiGeorge.
Q. What excites you about community mangement?
A: I love the ability to mix strategy, data and metrics into driving more engagement and, ultimately, building a successful community. It is exciting to see how the changes you implement have a direct correlation to how users are interacting and engaging in an online community. Plus, communities allow you to learn something new almost every day!
Q. How did you get into community management?
A: Community management wasn’t an intended career path for me – most people don’t even realize it is something you can make a career out of! I was lucky enough to work closely with Heather Arkwright prior to Higher Logic, and she introduced me to the company as well as community management.
Q. Favorite community management resource?
A: Higher Logic's client SNAP! trainings are amazing! They are digestible videos that go over a range of topics – from engagement strategies to understanding automation rules and how to implement them.
Q. What's your favorite book?
A: Marley and Me! I am a huge animal lover and the relationship you have with your first pet is unlike anything else – I loved reading the trials and tribulations of raising a crazy puppy into a one-of-a-kind best friend.
Q. Dog or cat? (Or neither?!)
A: Well, if my favorite book doesn’t give it away – I’d have to go with dog! I have a 2 ½ year old golden retriever, Dennis. With that being said, I’ve been considering getting Dennis a cat best friend.
Melanie is part of the community management team at Higher Logic. Melanie advises clients on community management strategy and best practices for building a highly engaged and successful community. Prior to Higher Logic, Melanie worked at WeddingWire as a Senior Customer Success Manager.
